Work Oufitters has partnered with Workwear Recycled to provide our customers with a sustainable and ethical program to re-use or recycle end-of-life work clothing and PPE.
The World’s desire for new clothes sees more than 100 billion garments produced worldwide each year, more than double what was made in the year 2000.
What’s more, of all of the textiles made each year, 85% ends up in landfill or incinerated.
It’s been predicted by Global Fashion Agenda that apparel consumption will rise 63% to 102m tonnes by 2030 if current trends continue. With most of our clothes heading straight to landfill, a 63% rise is a pretty big deal.
HOW DOES IT WORK
Workwear Recycled Ltd are working directly with companies to provide options for the recycling of as many different materials as possible. We are also working with several R&D programs to develop new technology for the disposal of end of life materials currently not easily reused or repurposed.
The handling and separation of materials becomes paramount as many organisations have limitations in what they will accept and in what volumes.
Workwear Recycled are consolidating materials from a wide range of New Zealand companies and are investing time in finding efficient solutions, consolidating freight, and providing a South Island hub for collection, as well as undertaking deconstruction of garments to enable more efficient recycling.

Workwear Recycled has developed a programme for big and small businesses who want to make a difference by way of:

- Optimise management of clothing and textile resources.
- Reducing effects on the environment and financial impact of clothing, textiles and PPE.
- Help turn used clothing and textiles into valued, useful products.
Workwear Recycled are working towards becoming B Corp Certified, a standard to measure and certify a company's entire social and environmental impact.
Our downstream partners are working with a number of certifying agents and carry one or many of the following certifications: B Corp Certification, ISO9001 Certification, SEDEX membership, Sustainable Choice certification.
Workwear Recycled provides certification to customers as a guarantee of secure destruction of branded products, and our assurance that no products received by Workwear Recycled will enter landfill.
